Abstract
Intraoral defect developed after surgery of oral cavity tumor has been treated with secondary healing, skin graft, local flap, myocutaneous flap, and free flap. In selecting the method of reconstruction many options are to be considered to get
maximization of function and minimization of complications. For that purpose authors applied buccinator myomucosal flap, a local pedicled island flap, to reconstruct 7 small intraoral defects.
The advantages of buccinator myomucosal flap are little functional loss of donor sites, one stage operation, concealed scar and a wide range of application sites in the oral cavity. We believe that the buccinator myomucosal flap is a simple,
speedy
and
safe method for intraoral reconstruction with minimal complications of donor site.
